CARB’s mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. California Mobile Smoke Check is comprised of CARB trained compliance testers and inspectors who have met regulatory requirements to be credentialed for the Clean Truck Check program, formerly known as “Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance.” Our staff are highly proficient in opacity measurements of diesel vehicles greater than 14,000 pounds using SAE’s stabilized J1667-201802 standard for instrumentation and describes the algorithm we use for the measurement and quantification of exhaust smoke produced during the test. Our opacity test equipment is the same the government uses and conforms to SAE J1667 specifications under declaration of compliance with the CARB mobile source enforcement branch. By using the latest compliant test instruments utilizing the light extinction principle where a beam of light is attenuated by smoke through scattering and absorption, the analyzed data is measured to produce an accurate Clear Truck Check report for you and the state of California.
